Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter, 19, had just arrived in Iraq.

Cpl. Jonathan Yale and Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter saved Iraqi police and fellow Marines from a truck-driving suicide bomber, Marine brass say. The April attack could have slain dozens.

Reporting from San Diego — They had known each other only a few minutes, but they will be linked forever in what Marine brass say is one of the most extraordinary acts of courage and sacrifice in the Iraq war.

Cpl. Jonathan Yale, 21, grew up poor in rural Virginia. He had joined the Marine Corps to put structure in his life and to help support his mother and sister. He was within a few days of heading home.

Rest in peace Marines. Your duty has been done, above and beyond.

This is a serious breach of the American people’s trust in the President’s office. There should never be a Czar of anything in America. It is completely against everything that America stands for.

I didn’t agree with it when President Reagan did it either.

America Does Not Need More Czars

Remember America’s can-do, point man in the war on drugs, the so-called “Drug Czar?” Well, if you like czars, you’ll love President-elect Barack Obama. He’s proposing a new “technology czar,” he’s considering a “climate czar,” and he’s even floated the idea of a “car czar.”

In tough times like these, America does not need a dose of tragic Russian authoritarianism. America does not need more czars.

Did you know that the Constitution does not mention czars even once? I know, weird. The president’s cabinet is composed of heads of various executive offices. These offices, like the Department of Education, are generally proposed by the president and approved by Congress. But the president can create new sub-cabinet-level offices more or less at will — which is where most so-called “czars” dwell.

This should be a no brainer, but then again, the idiots that sit on these courts can be liberal morons that can’t make sense of anything.

A state Supreme Court could establish a precedent with nationwide impact when it rules on a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of discounted college tuition for illegal immigrants.

The California Supreme Court has decided to take up the heated issue of whether granting illegal immigrants discounted in-state tuition at public colleges violates federal law. The case (Martinez v. Regents of University of California) was filed in 2005 by a group of out-of-state students and parents who correctly claimed that California’s public university and community college system charged them higher tuition and fees than undocumented immigrants.

A lower court dismissed the suit but, in September, a state appellate court ruled that the lawsuit can move forward. The out-of-state students argue that federal law requires states that provide discounted rates to illegal aliens to offer the same benefit to out-of-state students.

The lovely Gina Elise of Pin-Ups For Vets is making ready for a banner 2009 year. If you are not familiar with Gina Elise and her Pin-Ups For Vets projects let me enlighten you. For three years now, Gina has been making some stunning calendars that are used to raise funds and boost morale for veterans of all ages.

Gina Elise is supported by American Legion Post 360 in Lake Arrowhead, CA and makes calendars that she models in; the proceeds from which go to VA programs such as eyeglasses for Veterans, the home health program, recreational therapy, spinal cord injury & amputee programs, substance abuse program, women’s Veterans’ program, homeless program, reading materials and subscriptions for the Veterans, social relief fund, televisions, wheelchairs, and outreach programs for the visually impaired.

The Pin-Ups For Vets website is full of heartwarming stories and pictures about how her calendars and appearances have changed people. At the very least please order a calendar for yourself. If your New Year’s resolution is to help support a veteran then you most certainly should order a calendar for one. You could be totally awesome and send one to a deployed soldier, sailor, Airman or Marine.
