Going to the Lion’s Den

Posted: 13 Jan 2009 in Uncategorized

I’ll be heading to San Fran Freako for a few days, Wednesday through Saturday. Don’t know if I’ll post while I am there. If I have time, I’ll do so.

I’ll be checking out the Presidio and anything else I can while there.

If I don’t have time while there, I’ll give a full report on my return.

Enquiring minds want to know. Yeah. More on the gun thing. It’s an issue.

And where is the NRA?

I’d like to know why the NRA is not lodging official and vociferous opposition to Obama’s pick for Attorney General!  A letter of opposition is all they’re intending to do to fight an ardent, vocal opponent of Second Amendment rights.  It’s pathetic and weak, and it’s just one of the reasons I’ve let my NRA membership lapse.  Whatever political game they’re playing, I’m not joining in.  I’ve had enough of their compromises.

Obama and the Democrats are getting pretty ballsy in their utter contempt for the Constitution.  While Obama made a modicum of effort to hide his fascist tendencies to disarm the populace during the campaign season, his nomination of virulently anti-freedom Holder just further emphasizes what I already knew: Obama has no respect for the Bill of Rights or the freedoms that keep pissy little tyrants like him in check.

He’s willing to relieve you of your earnings via government force but, like all cowards, will work to disarm you first, so you can’t resist.

Senate Republicans Need to Demand Re-Examination on Global Warming

By Harvey M. Sheldon

On the question of global warming control, the confirmation hearings for President-Elect Obama’s choices for environmental leadership posts present a critical juncture for the future of America and the world.  While running for election, Barack Obama repeatedly declared our planet to be in peril from global warming, which he presumably has come to believe is significantly caused by human activity.  That augurs for extensive regulation, the expense of which can readily run into the trillion dollar range.  Yet many highly competent scientists would say that there is no proof that human-caused CO2 emission is threatening the Earth, and there is no benefit to the environment from limiting CO2 emission.

According to Reuters, President-Elect Barack Obama has asked Congress “to act without delay” to pass legislation that includes doubling alternative energy production in the next three years and building a new electricity “smart grid.” He said he also planned to modernize 75 percent of federal buildings and improve energy efficiency in 2 million homes to save consumers billions of dollars on energy bills.

It is important to understand that these pronouncements promoting energy efficiency and alternative energy are not propositions that have anything directly to do with the controversy over regulations of carbon dioxide or about the “global warming” that CO2 allegedly causes.  The promoted activities address two separate and, I think, very worthwhile policy imperatives: 1) the nation’s energy security, and 2) the need for efficient alternative and conventional energy sources and delivery systems.  The global warming question is separate, and, if mishandled, it can lead to costly and ill-conceived interference with the two mentioned imperatives, and waste trillions of dollars.

They are using my money, and I don’t fucking appreciate it.

ACORN needs to be defunded. No more fucking tax dollars from me, or any other law abiding citizen who has the right under the constitution to have firearms and their ammunition. A background check for ammo is bullshit. A tax funded organization should not be in the business of pushing an agenda, especially one that goes against the grain of the Constitution.

You want to help the poor and disenfranchised? Knock yourself out. You want to play politics? No more tax funding. My money being used against me is wrong in more ways than I can count.

Stop ACORN funding now!

From Alphecca:

ACORN Pushing Ammo Control

Overstepping their stated mission, once again:

When you buy a gun, gun shops have to run a background check first to make sure you’re not a convicted felon.

Although it is also illegal for convicted felons to buy bullets, a background check is not required. As it stands now, gun shops aren’t required to ask any questions before selling bullets, as long as the buyer is 18 and can present identification.

Community organizer for the local NC ACORN group, The Rev. Melvin Whitley, says it’s too easy for criminals to buy ammo, and he plans to close that loophole.

ACORN’S initiative would expand the law to include ammunition, and may even include a requirement for bullet permits.

I’ve mentioned their anti-gun activities before.

And remember, ACORN receives public funding — as in your tax dollars.

I am the Infantry

The infantryman. Often ignored. Often disregarded by the other services. Often disparaged as the stupid ones. Generally, they are some of the more intelligent people that I have seen. They usually possess a large amount of common sense, coupled with the need for adventure, and the desire to have a purpose that cannot be fulfilled sitting behind a desk somewhere.

Always preparing for war. That is his job, to locate, close with and kill the enemy. Shoot, move, communicate. Do what it takes to destroy the enemy and take the objective.

Whether he’s a Soldier, or a Marine, the grunt is the one who takes the brunt of the enemy’s punches. The grunt is the one who punches back with such tenacity that the enemy often is clueless as to what truck just ran his ass over.

Grunts like to argue. Arguing with a Grunt is like wrestling a pig in mud…Everyone gets dirty, but the pig loves it!

This grunt has a motto: “I’ll be polite. I’ll be professional. But I have a plan to kill everyone I meet.”

Show some love for my brother grunts. They deserve it.

Foot soldier’s honors always due, not just in times of war

By Jerry A. White

I resolve to honor the American infantry soldier in 2009, and I hope you will join me.

It’s a promise we hardly had to make 12 months ago when such admirable young people were all over the news. Indeed, every year is comprised of what journalists call “story arcs.” Some topic becomes all the rage for a few months, dominating opinion pages, blogs, magazine covers and TV news programs. In 2008, such arcs included home prices, the Tampa Bay Rays, economic stimulus checks, the iPhone, gasoline prices, Barack Obama and the financial crisis.

January 2008 was the first anniversary of President Bush’s “surge,” in which five additional combat brigades were sent to Iraq. That development helped make the American Soldier the first story arc of the New Year. There was reporting on combat missions, video of firefights, blog posts from the front and dozens of stories about tearful reunions with family and friends back in the States as tours of duty concluded. For a while, the nation was clearly attentive to the dedication and courage of the military men and women devoted to protecting and projecting American ideals.

Then the arc faded. It always does. The presidential primaries experienced their own surge, and the spotlight of national focus moved on to other things. But the soldiers kept fighting and sacrificing in a manner that befits a long and proud tradition.

George Orwell wrote: “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
