Arlen Specter was never a Conservative. He was a RINO from the start. He voted with the Democrats almost 60% of the time since he switched parties in 1980. His game is nothing but pure and simple politics of convenience.
Since his ass was about to be handed to him in the PA primaries, he switched parties to avoid losing before the general election. This way he has no serious threat from the left and forces the people of PA to choose between him as a Democrat, or a new Republican challenger. Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along.

The Democrats have gained another seat in the U.S. Senate. Make no mistake… Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter was already with them in spirit. Now, he is with them in party label too.
The big problem with Arlen Specter’s decision is that his reasons are completely bogus and his comments against the Republican Party show a complete lack of class. He stated that he is switching parties based on principle, but his switch is really based on fear and politics. Let’s look at what Specter said and compare it to reality.
