Yugoslavian SKS Shootfest…

Posted: 22 Jan 2011 in Guns

Went shooting today.

Took my Yugoslavian SKS out for the first time today.

I bought it for Christmas. I picked it up on the 8th of January.

This thing was covered in cosmoline.  Every nook and cranny you could think of was covered in the stuff. I had to clean it twice just to get the majority of this crap off of it.

It’s in decent shape for an old rifle. The picture above is just a representation.

Anyway, I took it and my Beretta 96 FS out to shoot.

This rifle is fun as hell to shoot.

Here’s a couple targets:

This was from 25 yards sitting on my butt un-supported, this is the second group I shot. The first one I used to adjust the sites.

The above target was also at 25 yards, but this time I was in a supported firing position.

This bad boy is a tack driver. I enjoyed shooting the rifle. It was easy to handle, an my shoulder is non-the-worse for wear.

I also took my Beretta and shot it as well.

I did some home defense practice with it. Fired it like it would be if I woke up and had to shoot an intruder. Took off the safe and squeezed off the first round with the hammer down, and then fired another two right after it. I lost that target, so no pics of it.

I was actually aiming my shots, which weren’t bad, here’s an example of the first ten rounds I shot, this is at 10 yards:

The target I lost had my last ten round shot group, which I didn’t aim, I just pointed and shot at the target. I actually had 5 center ring and the rest within 3 inches of the center of the target at rapid fire.

Fun day in the desert.

Update:04-27-12

Been having issues with the last round not cambering. Doesn’t matter if I put in 10 rounds or 2, on the last round, the bolt locks back like there is no round in the magazine.

Any ideas? Leave a reply.

Thanks,
