…you can pretty much give up on having any privacy in the United States. In fact, you can pretty much toss out the Fourth Amendment while you’re at it.
If this shit doesn’t give you chills, nothing will.

First Obama signs the NDAA into law giving the military the power to arrest American citizens without charges, or due process of law, and now the Senate is looking to add to that fiasco by allowing law enforcement to read your email, access your internet accounts and social media without a warrant, without any judicial oversight, and without your knowledge.

America has lost its way.

Senate bill rewrite lets feds read your e-mail without warrants
by Declan McCullagh

Proposed law scheduled for a vote next week originally increased Americans’ e-mail privacy. Then law enforcement complained. Now it increases government access to e-mail and other digital files.

A Senate proposal touted as protecting Americans’ e-mail privacy has been quietly rewritten, giving government agencies more surveillance power than they possess under current law.

CNET has learned that Patrick Leahy, the influential Democratic chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee, has dramatically reshaped his legislation in response to law enforcement concerns. A vote on his bill, which now authorizes warrantless access to Americans’ e-mail, is scheduled for next week.

Leahy’s rewritten bill would allow more than 22 agencies — including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Communications Commission — to access Americans’ e-mail, Google Docs files, Facebook wall posts, and Twitter direct messages without a search warrant. It also would give the FBI and Homeland Security more authority, in some circumstances, to gain full access to Internet accounts without notifying either the owner or a judge.

It’s an abrupt departure from Leahy’s earlier approach, which required police to obtain a search warrant backed by probable cause before they could read the contents of e-mail or other communications. The Vermont Democrat boasted last year that his bill “provides enhanced privacy protections for American consumers by… requiring that the government obtain a search warrant.”

…Fast and Furious report released.

‘Furious’ report slams ‘disregard’ for public safety as DOJ officials quit

A bombshell report released Wednesday on Operation Fast and Furious faulted a range of federal agencies for the failed anti-gunrunning program and accused officials in charge of a “disregard” for public safety. In the wake of the report, one Justice Department official resigned and another retired.

The sprawling report by the department’s inspector general is the most comprehensive account yet on the deadly operation which allowed weapons to “walk” across the U.S.-Mexico border and resulted in hundreds of firearms turning up at crime scenes in both countries.

The report says Attorney General Eric Holder was not made aware of potential flaws in the program until February of last year. But the report cites 14 other department employees — including Criminal Division head Lanny Breuer — for potential wrongdoing, recommending the department consider disciplinary action against them.

One congressional source told Fox News the report was “more brutal than was expected.”

…between DOJ and Media Matters.
How anyone can trust Media Matters as a news source is beyond me. This proves that they are merely a propaganda arm of the DNC and this Administration.

The Media is bound and determined to make this Administration look good and will do everything in their power to ensure Obama is reelected, even if they must lie and obfuscate to do so.

This isn’t America anymore. We have Pravda for a news source with the Ministry of Propaganda running the show.

Emails reveal Justice Dept. regularly enlists Media Matters to spin press

Internal Department of Justice emails obtained by The Daily Caller show Attorney General Eric Holder’s communications staff has collaborated with the left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America in an attempt to quell news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and America’s top law enforcement agency.

Dozens of pages of emails between DOJ Office of Public Affairs Director Tracy Schmaler and Media Matters staffers show Schmaler, Holder’s top press defender, working with Media Matters to attack reporters covering DOJ scandals. TheDC obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act request. (RELATED: TheDC’s complete coverage of Media Matters)

Emails sent in September and November 2010 show Schmaler working with Media Matters staffer Jeremy Holden on attacking news coverage of the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation scandal.

****Update

This is related to the massive media con job that has been going on since 2008 non-stop.

Say, who’s the real “extremist” here, anyhow?

Just for a quick addendum to Allahpundit’s earlier post on the Obama ‘I believe in redistribution’ audio that was making the rounds today: As AP already pointed out, it’s never a bad idea to remind voters of how President Obama’s mind works, but this isn’t brand new information. BuzzFeed just followed up with a whole rap sheet of some of Obama’s Greatest Progressive Hits, but as they concur, it’s not like his roots in hardcore liberalism are a secret.

Granted, time and political ambition can help to (publicly and pragmatically) tone down anybody’s views, but for me, all of this is just more infuriating evidence that further underscores the degree to which too many members of the media were simply falling over themselves to protect their hero from this type of vetting: They did it in 2008, and they’re doing it again now — not that they ever stopped, but we’re back to the fever-pitch level of the election cycle.

Overwhelmingly, the media establishment is all too happy to blithely gloss over any of the inconvenient bits of President Obama’s disquietingly leftist history and instead feed us all narratives about how Mitt Romney — yes, the “vanilla,” Republican governor of Massachusetts — is the “radical” right-wing “extremist,” if you can believe it.

…because he criticized the government. Isn’t this the shit that communists do? Why yes, yes it is.

Well, the police say he wasn’t arrested. If he wasn’t arrested, then why was he lead away in handcuffs and then taken to a psychiatric facility? If that isn’t being arrested, then WTF is it?

The government has too much power if this is allowed in this country.

Time to get the torches and pitchforks.

Outcry after military veteran detained for anti-government Facebook posts

A former Marine involuntarily detained for psychiatric evaluation for posting strident anti-government messages on Facebook has received an outpouring of support from people who say authorities are trampling on his First Amendment rights.

Brandon J. Raub, 26, has been in custody since FBI, Secret Service agents and police in Virginia’s Chesterfield County questioned him Thursday evening about what they said were ominous posts talking about a coming revolution. In one message earlier this month according to authorities, Raub wrote: “Sharpen my axe; I’m here to sever heads.”

Police — acting under a state law that allows emergency, temporary psychiatric commitments upon the recommendation of a mental health professional — took Raub to the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was not charged with any crime.

Looks like he’s not giving up on this, which is good. I’m glad to see that he’s pursuing this. Eric Holder needs to be fired right along with his corrupt boss.

Darrell Issa to Sue Eric Holder Monday
By Jonathan Strong

House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa plans to sue Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday for refusing to provide documents related to the “Fast and Furious” gun-smuggling operation.

“The committee expects to file the civil contempt suit against the attorney general Monday,” a Republican source said. The suit will be filed in the federal district court for the District of Columbia.

The action is the latest escalation in the dispute between House Republicans and the Justice Department over the documents, which relate to a botched gun-smuggling operation.

Anything to hold the hand of this corrupt administration. Do your job assholes! You are not an arm of the DNC!

Pathetic.

Washington Post shows agenda in treatment of Fast and Furious
By: David Codrea

Yesterday’s release of the first part of a joint staff report detailing findings in the Congressional investigation of Operation Fast and Furious did not result in headlines by The Washington Post, let alone a buried independent story at this writing. Instead, its editor chose to publish an Associated Press piece parroting an accusation by the Justice Department that the “Republican Fast and Furious report engages in distortion.”

This does not serve to impartially inform a readership interested in knowing all the facts about the government investigation. It would also appear to be a gross violation of basic canons of journalism adopted by the American Society of Newspaper Editors, as well as an apparently “false and misleading statement” CEO Donald E. Graham makes to investors of his publicly-traded company that “Our dedication to top-quality journalism is important to the people at the Company…We all share a belief that the free flow of information is essential to a successful democracy.”

Congressional Fast and Furious report released in advance to chosen few
By: David Codrea

The first of a three-part joint staff report on the Operation Fast and Furious “gunwalking” investigation prepared for House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa and Senate Committee on the Judiciary Ranking Member Charles Grassley was issued today in Washington. D.C.

“This report chronicles the fundamentally flawed firearms trafficking case from the perspective of the United States Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives,” the preface states. “Part two will look at the devastating failure of supervision and leadership by officials at Justice Department headquarters, principally within the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, and within the Criminal Division. Part three will address the unprecedented obstruction of the investigation by the highest levels of the Justice Department, including the Attorney General himself.”

LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY? YOUR FIREMEN JUST BECAME MORE STUPID AND INCAPABLE OF DOING THEIR JOBS

by Vilmar

Why? Political correctness from a black robed tyrant mandating stupid, less qualified blacks and Hispanics be allowed on the force at the expense of more qualified whites.

If any black or Hispanic got a score of 25 out of 100 they are eligible for back pay on a job they never got.

25 OUT OF 100!!!!!

Something went right!

The House of Representatives voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. The vote was 255 ayes, 67 nays, and 1 present vote.

Seventeen Democrats joined with 238 Republicans to vote for the contempt charges against Holder, while over 100 Democrats did not vote, most of them ceremoniously walking out of the House chamber in protest.

Here’s some more racist shit for you to take in.
