I supported Paul the last time around, and I’m supporting him again this time around. I think he’s the right candidate to lead the SB Country Sheriff Dept. If you live in San Bernardino County, you need to vote for a new sheriff, and Paul is the man you need to pull the lever for.

Last time around there wasn’t enough time to garner the support that he needed. Now, there is more time and this will be favorable to his campaign.

Here’s his press release.

PAUL SCHRADER ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY

FOR SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SHERIFF- CORONER

Paul Schrader officially announced his candidacy today to run for the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner position in 2014, a seat that is currently held by Rod Hoops. Schrader in 2010 ran against then appointed Hoops and Averbeck.  In 2010, with only five months to elections Schrader was able to garner 40,000 votes to Hoops 120,000.  This time around Schrader hopes by starting earlier he’ll be able to get his message out and win over San Bernardino County.

Schrader currently works as a Deputy Sheriff at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, is a long-time resident of Rancho Cucamonga, with 29 years of experience in city, county and Federal law enforcement.  He believes the skills he has acquired during his years of leadership in the community will guide him as San Bernardino County’s Sheriff-Coroner.

A native of Arkansas, Paul was taught that hard work and dedication pays off.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After training he was sent to the Fleet Marine Force as an infantryman. After 2 years he went to the Military Police and was then assigned to work as an undercover narcotics operative at the Naval Investigative Intelligence Service (NIS).

His law enforcement management skills include jail supervision, Logistics team member, Risk Analysis Team supervision, Public Information Officer, and Patrol and Legal Unit supervision.

Schrader has served as an Audit Team supervisor, giving him a clear understanding of how to most effectively use the Sheriff’s Department budget to benefit the community and Deputies.

As part of his campaign, Schrader wants to be accessible to voters having his website www.sheriffpaul.ca where he is accessible via a Q&A submission. Also, Facebook group pages have been implemented to reach virtually every city in the county.

Schrader also believes that the best way he and the Deputies of the Sheriff’s Department can protect and serve the community is to be as educated and as up to date as possible on the newest law enforcement practices, non-lethal weaponry and tactics, and correctional facility programs.

A dedicated family man, Paul Schrader and his wife Judith Bell Schrader have been married for 23 years. They have five children giving Schrader a strong family investment in keeping San Bernardino County safe.

Email from Paul Schrader. Get out there and vote! This is the sheriff that San Bernardino County needs! Don’t let the corruption and ineptitude continue in this office! It’s the largest county in America and we don’t even have a K9 unit!

Vote  June 8, 2010

There has been a cloud of corruption over the San Bernardino  County government for the past decade. So much corruption that even elected  officials who have not been involved in any scandals are viewed with suspicion  by the citizens of San Bernardino County.

My goal is to give the citizens of San Bernardino County  something that is desperately needed; A Fresh Start. That start begins with  concerned, responsive elected officials. A Fresh Start with innovative plans and  solutions to the challenges we face. Fresh, proactive leadership that will  restore faith, hope, and the belief that a better future for our families and  our children is not only possible, but is something we can accomplish together.  No longer will the citizens of San Bernardino be barred from participating in the design of our future, your voices silenced or unheard. I pledge to you that  there will be a Fresh Start in law enforcement, that you will be a part of it,  your voice will be heard.

I will use my 27 years of experience in City, County, and  Federal law enforcement together with your input, your thoughts, and your ideas  to create a fresh, new atmosphere of cooperation between the community and law enforcement.

By joining together, you and I can make that Fresh Start a  reality.

Together we can develop a cooperation between the community and law  enforcement that will be a model for other counties to follow.

If you believe with me that San Bernardino County deserves this  kind of cooperation and leadership, vote for me, Paul Schrader for Sheriff, on  June 8, 2010 Telephone 909-732-6964 or www.sheriffpaul.net

Here’s a video from Paul Schrader, discussing his philosophy about the position of Sheriff for SB County.

Anytime I get any information on his campaign, I’ll post it here.

This one he discusses the K-9 issue as well as CCW permits:

Here, he discusses fiscal responsibility:

Here he discusses technology:

There will be an election for many state offices in California June 8, 2010.

I met one of the candidates for Sheriff, Paul Schrader. He was a down to earth fellow, he was with his wife and seemed like a pretty squared away dude.

He mentioned that our current sheriff was appointed, not elected and that our county doesn’t even have a K-9 unit. We are the largest county in America, and have no K-9 unit! I was like WTF? He said that we have to borrow them from elsewhere.

He served in the USMC for four years and then 27 years in law enforcement.

He told me that he would hire more former military to fill the ranks, because there is a big difference between them and someone that has never served.

After he left, I thought about the CCW issue, and kicked myself for not asking the question.

But, fear not, his website states the following:

Carrying a Concealed Weapon CCW

California is a “May Issue” state; the decision to grant a CCW (Carry a Concealed Weapon) Permit being granted (or refused) at the discretion of the County Sheriff or Police Chief. Some sheriffs/chiefs issue on a reasonable basis, others can be next to impossible to persuade.

I will break down the walls to a CCW permit in San Bernardino County. If you meet the qualifications, you will not be denied a CCW. I will order an audit of this system and take politics out of receiving a CCW.

I am a strong NRA supporter.

That alone gets my vote!

He states that he is a fiscal conservative and that is also necessary in these tough times.

Vote for Paul Schrader!
